Oscar winning director (12 Years of Slave), Steve McQueen has also earned a reputation as one of the most influential Contemporary Art visual artists. Whether at the Tate Britain in London or at the MoMA in New York, his work can be seen in the World’s most famous museums. With Ends Credits, McQueen pays a moving (and accessible) tribute to the little known AfroAmerican artist and social advocate Paul Robeson
(1898-1976). The video installation combines almost 13 hours of “footage” with a 19-hour spoken word soundtrack, all based on declassified archives from the FBI, who spied on the singer, actor and Civil Right activist for over 30 years. The discrepancy between the visual and audio components creates an asynchronous loop denunciating the perverse nature of politically driven discrimination and persecution.

Co-production : Holland Festival (June 2018), Théâtre du Châtelet, Innsbruck International Festival
Creation at the Art Institute of Chicago, Regeinstein Hall on 21st October 2012.
