So as not to end up angry with 2020, we are making a table-rase: the Frivolités Parisiennes and their guests have taken over the stage of the Châtelet theater to invite you to what will be the last musical party of the year, a festive concert, a concert of light music from the 20s to 30s, with friends, without an audience. Yes, without an audience. But this evening will be a moment of sharing.
Song is a learned art. Writing a verse, writing a chorus, drawing a melody requires science, know-how, as well as inspiration. These notes – and these words – that must be engraved in the minds of their listeners, then go down to the street, run on all lips and tell, l’air de rien, precisely, a whole “air of time”. And our “airs du temps” are signed by the most beautiful songwriters in the history of popular song. They combine melodic grace and rhythm, fantasy and tenderness, dance and dashing harmony; the spirit of Paris marries elegance, sweetness and naughty provocation. Surrounded by Marie Perbost, Léaovanie Raud, Romain Dayez, and Sinan Bertrand, Les Frivolités take up – and sometimes even reinvent – those tunes from times we haven’t lived through, to make them blossom again with charm, energy, fun and delightful inventiveness. A musical gallery of colourful snapshots, these melodies, these songs from the cinema, musicals and magazines, tell a beautiful story. Ours.
