American singer and bassist of Cameroonian origin, Richard Bona has been touring the world since his impressive first album Scenes of my life in 1999.
He has won several awards, including a Grammy Award, a Victoire de la musique and the Grand Prix de la Sacem. He and his fiery quintet will be bringing their Afrobeat sound to the Châtelet. “Imagine an artist with the virtuosity of Jaco Pastorius, the vocal fluidity of Georges Benson, Joao Gilberto’s sense of melody and harmony, all mixed with African culture, and you have Richard Bona,” wrote the Los Angeles Times. A name and a voice that are the embodiment of boundless creativity, a crowd-pleasing energy, a rare musical achievement and a personality that cannot be ignored.
First part
Evan Goodrow and Daniel Ouvrard
Freshness, impertinence, connection. The singer-guitarist Evan Goodrow, from Boston (USA), and the bassist Daniel Ouvrard, from Bordeaux (France), create on stage a balance without a net, new and magical. Accomplices since they first met in 2018, they have set in motion a rhythmic machinery that drives the general movement of the bodies involved… Their musical approach is difficult to explain in words, so original and universal it is. They offer listeners a hypnotic and catchy show. The premiere of their duo in France in 2019 at the Sunside Sunset in Paris earned them the Label Jazz sur Seine.
