An iconic orchestral tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. that will honor his legacy. The event presented by the Brooklyn Nets, will feature a concert symphony performance of Biggie’s songs from the multi-platinum album, Ready to Die and 11 x R.I.A.A. Diamond Certified Life After Death.
Christopher Wallace wasn’t just an extremely charismatic, intelligent, rare, skilled, and elite rapper, he was and is someone that represents freedom, excellence, and transcendence for all people. His heart and spirit is what touches and inspires us. His legacy is on an upward trajectory, and I can’t wait to share an orchestral impression of some of my favorite music of his. Being able to pay tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. with an orchestra in Paris is one of the greatest honors and joys of my life.
Composer Miguel Atwood-Ferguson
Ready to Die was certified 6x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It has been ranked by many critics as one of the greatest hip hop albums, as well as one of the greatest albums of all time. In 2020, the album was ranked 22nd on Rolling Stone’s updated list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and was ranked 1st on their list of the 200 Greatest Hip-Hop Albums of All Time.
Life After Death debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 in 1997. It was the first album to feature two back-to-back posthumous #1 singles: “Hypnotize” and “Mo Money Mo Problems.” The album received a GRAMMY® nomination in the category of Best Rap Album. “Hypnotize” earned a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance, and “Mo Money Mo Problems” was nominated for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. Among dozens of lists and retrospectives, Rolling Stone touted Life After Death among its coveted “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.” The R.I.A.A. has awarded the album a Diamond Certification for more than 5 million copies sold of the double-LP.
