An original adaptation of Serge Prokofiev’s tale, this Peter and the wolf introduces us to the history of jazz, improvisation and the instruments of this music through its evolution and its different genres, in the same way that Prokofiev presented the classical orchestra. The text of the tale remains as we know it today, without losing its touch of humor. On a score that goes from bepop to cool, from funk to New Orleans jazz, Peter is embodied by the “string” section (piano/ double bass/ guitar), the Wolf by the trombones and the Hunters by the trumpets and the drums. Like Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals that was revisited last season, discover this classic in a new jazzy light.
